As terror stalks the streets of Paris these days, one is forced to remember the 1890s when the situation was similar; when men and women infected with extreme ideas and with no regard for human life carried out deadly attacks on innocent people. While the Islamists work for the ideal of the Caliphate—a worldwide state where everyone will be either Muslim or dead—the anarchists advocate a government-free, self-managed society.

The Policeman’s Work Is Never Done

Er, the vast anti-globalization movement? I think you’ll find this has been very much informed by anarchist philosophy. The Spanish Trade Union the CNT is still going strong, as this image demonstrates: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contemporary_anarchism#mediaviewer/File:CNT-1mayo2010.jpg I’m glad to say that few anarchists are terrorists these days – acts of terror like this were denounced by leading thinkers like Kropotkin and Malatesta – but I think you’ll find anarchism itself has never gone away, and as the gap between the 99% and the 1% widens (see Oxfam’s latest report) I suspect it’s most unlikely to.
Thank you for these very interesting images. I like your blog.

These acts of “domestic terrorism” are for purposes of divide and conquer, not labor vs capital.

I should say modern acts of domestic terrorism, real or not are being exploited for divide and conquer. By the the same token you don’t which of those 1890s terror were created for propaganda purposes. In the US the Haymarket bombing of the same period killed people was used to round up socialists and anarchists.

That is more or less wishful thinking. One thing is certain: Not all acts of terrorism were created to round up socialists and anarchists. Whichever way you look at it, the anarchists take the major part of the
blame.
