This was an enjoyable read! What an interesting slant, especially the notes about the kitchen, and foot muffs, and the like. I wonder what a Parisian of that era would have written about finding lodgings in New York.

@ Joanna, I have just purchased my first cage crinoline and plan to wear it to whitby goth weekend, I really am completely confused how on earth I am supposed to pack it into a suitcase to transport there, how do you fold or pack such an item. Is it the same as folding a hoop skirt?, I know how to do that.Hope you or anyone else with experience of wearing and transporting a cage crinoline can help asap I’m going in just over a weeks time!!
